I am going to make three spiritually themed cakes for the church auction. I would like one of them to be a version of Maryjo's cake (The old rugged cross) http://cakecentral.com/cake-photo-383303.html
But I am lost on the other two cakes...... any ideas??
Wow, that's a gorgeous cake! It would make a nice centerpiece cake and I'd make the other two sheetcakes that people will cut and eat.
I have done many religious cakes, probably mostly first communion; but if you click on my link in my signature bar and go to page 2 and click on religious cakes, you might find some inspiration (pun intended).
Thanks for the inspiration !!!
I might just end up doing the "Old Rugged Cross" cake (I love it and have been looking for a reason to make it!). Then make two additional cakes like a sculpted Noah's Ark and maybe Jonah and the Whale..... I dunno.... they will each be auctioned off alone, so I guess doing three totally different themes would be ok. I did think about sculpting one of our church (wondering how big that cake would be even on a small scale!! lol). I am rattleing on......so I will stop now
Thanks again!
Wow - what an undertaking. Love the "old rugged cross" cake - that will be great.
I haven't tackled a sculpted cake yet. What about a cross shaped cake, but intricately decorated with cornelli lace, etc? I know that is more traditional but sometimes the older generation of ladies at your church may really like something like that (not to stereotype or anything...didn't mean it that way - hope this is coming across right...) ![]()
Oh! They're being raffled off! I thought they were going to be eaten. I think your ideas are good ... and time consuming ... I assume you're donating these for the raffle? Bless you.
I like all 3 of your ideas! That old rugged cross cake is truely amazing=) And the noah's arc and jonah cakes will be cute! I would love to see em when you are done! Jen
