The instructor that I had, was good and helpful, she even would let you retake a portion of the class at a later date if you didnt' understand it or missed it. Sorry to hear that your teacher wasn't great. I'd complain to where ever you took the class, you did not get your moneys worth out of the class.

The instructor offered to let us take make up classes but I didn't want to take them from her. It was pretty torturous getting thru them. No way would I willing set thru them again with her. We complained to Hobby Lobby. We did not follow up with contacting Wilton.

I totally know that feeling! icon_mad.gif My roses came out like that too when I first started. That was before I made the "mistake" of grabbing a bag full of medium instead of stiff to do my roses. When I was done, I couldn't tell the difference! My mom ( mommachris) on the other hand can't do that. Her hands are so hot the icing gets way too soft to do anything. icon_lol.gif (This stinks because we normally share bags... icon_rolleyes.gif )

Good luck anyway... everyone makes mistakes! icon_razz.gif

Forgot to add, our roses get so "melty" sometimes that we are chasing them around the flower nail trying to get the darn petals to stick! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Then when we finally get them done, my mom sometimes drops them on the cake... I have too on occaion icon_redface.gif

Well, for what it's worth, I think your roses are beautiful. In fact, they look EXACTLY like the climbing roses on the front of our house, which have a "wavy" or "raggedy" edge.

Sometimes I see what are called "perfect" frosting roses, and they are SOOOO darn perfect they look like plastic! Yours, frankly, look more real!

I took a wilton course at michael's and one of the store employes yelled at my instructor and i was afraid she was going to attack her. It was really BAD. The instructor was awesome. But i will never go back to that store again.

You need to complain to the store you took your class at and I would also complain to Wilton....You should have had four classes and the first night your instructor should have made icing and decorated a cake. I would be ticked if I paid for the class and the instructor doubled up a class...That is unacceptable!! icon_mad.gif I taught Wilton for two years at Michael's and would never had done something like that...People just amaze me!!

I had problems with my roses at first too. First, I quit beating the icing so long. Over whipped icing can cause air bubbles which in turn causes ragged ridges. Second, I used 1 tsp more water in 2 cups of stiff icing. This softened it just enough to flow properly. And third, I have a heavy hand when it comes to flowers, so it took me lots of practice to get it right. Be patient. Hope this helps.

As far as your roses go I had that when I frist started. It's one of two things your icing which everyone has said. Or you are turning your nail at an uneven pace. Meaning could be going to slow or too fast. Hope this helps
