Boy is this what everyone making these days? Lighting McQueen?
I have posted several question regarding this cake I was suposed to make for my nephew but because of weather the party has been canceled!!!! I just want to make this cake so bad!!!! Boonenati's tutorial is pretty good except that is a enormous cake!!!! I making mine out of a 7" oval and putting it on top of a double layer 11 x 15 with checkered deisgn on the sides grass and a road on top like this one. Mine would be taller and the 3D car will be carve from the cake not the 3D Wilton pan. Good luck to you when is your cake due?

I made mine using the 3D car pan from Wilton. I built the spoiler with cake scraps.

I personally am tired of LM cakes... but I have never done this 3D version might be better than the wilton pan on top of a sheet cake..... will have to see if my next order for it would like this instead icon_smile.gif

The cake I made I made with a 9x13 and 2 9x9 cakes, stacked and carved. Then I added candy clay for things like the rear wheel wells and covered oreos for the wheels. If you want to look at my cake to see if this is what you want it is in my album. If it is what you want, let me know and I will do my best to walk you through it. Good luck!

pearl70... there is nothing to be scared of, just practice on your family and friends. For my 1st year I just made a cake for everything and eventually got a little better. I am still getting better with every cake.... I have a lot of work to do yet but I just do it... I use ideas from here and when people ask for off the wall orders I scour the galleries and attempt some of this genious stuff... sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't for me, for instance I SUCK at FBCT can't get one right for the life of me.. they look good until I attempt transfer and then they STICK----everytime. Good luck with trying to get beyond sheet cakes... you can and will do it icon_smile.gif
