People just don't get it when you tell them that coloring white chocolate into dark colors doesn't work so well...sheesh!
I have mints to make for a shower saturday. She wants NO NO NO pastels. The shower decorations are red and almost navy blue (kind of like bandana colors)
Anyone know how to get my WHITE mints either of those colors? I have to start making them today and all I have are Wilton candy colors and NO access to a store that sells anything else. (We live in an area where there isn't much of anything)
TIA
Ashlee
if you have chalk/petal dust colours, mix some red or dark blue withsome canola oil to make a paste then mix this in with your melted choc.
Maybe you could make them out of white choc and just squiggle/decorate with the dark blue and red then you wont need to colour as much choc.
Is all you have are the wilton colors or do you have Gel colors to?
You can use any dye with chocolate you just have to add some kind of "fat' to keep it at a nice liquid state.
So if you have Fondant dye use that but just add oil, shortning or fluid flux to make your chocolate to the consistance u need.
Good luck with it
I tell my brides: "I can make your mints to color coordinate with your wedding colors .... unless you picked a weird, freaky color and then you get white mints!"
You shouldn't really stress out that much over mints. Over a 4-tiered, expensive wedding cake? Stress away! But over mints? Pul-lease!
She'd get white ones.

Oh my Lord I have had a laugh today!! Indydebi, I just love it!!! ![]()
I get another brand at Hobby Lobby called Candymaker, and it comes in navy blue disks. They are very good too. I'm with indydebi though. I wouldn't stress over it. I just happen to have every color in my stock because I have 11 grandchildren who are always in need of some weird kind of candy thing. If you're close to a Hobby Lobby, you might try it.

Make sure you are not using the reg. colours from Wilton. They are water based and will ruin your chocolate.
You have to use oil based colours in order to use them in chocolate. Wilton has started coming out with oil based colours but be careful. I would hate for you to waste a whole batch of chocolate.
There is another line that Hobby Lobby carries (Michael's does not) and I think they are called cake mate? They have a green and white label. They sell lots of moulds, chocolates and colours for chocolate.
Good luck with the bride however.
Thanks everyone.
Yeah I know I shouldn't stress out, unfortunately it's what I do best...obsess about everything...I need to take some sort of relaxation or meditation class..LOL This is me: ![]()
If you only knew how I am stressing about the cake I am doing for the same shower.....UGH!!!!
Thanks again everyone...say a prayer for me...gulp....
