i really enjoy doing purse cake and love the effect of fondant but i cannot the seams smooth on the corners...also my cakes always seem to look like its leaning backwards but the front looks okay....any advice or tips would be greatly apprecaited! TIA
****I just tried uploaded the pics but they are to big but the in paticalr im talking about is the dooney and burke purse ![]()
I have used a little thin sausage of fondant in a constrasting colour to edge the seams so it looks like piping, it helps hide little blips. As for leaning backwards - sounds like you're carving them wonky.
I purchased a great book this weekend at Hobby Lobby...
Celebrate with a Cake by Lindy Smith.
There is a Purse Cake in there with instructions that may help with your question about the Fondant lines. It also has instructions on how to do a handle & a flower.
