My daughter found this cake on the back page of my Course 3 book (I never took the class....I started the first night but had such nasty morning sickness that I never went back) and BEGGED for this cake for her birthday. Who was I to argue?

I've never even so much as SEEN fondant before (except in pictures) so I had no idea what to expect. I made MMF last night and here's what I ended up with. Not too shabby I don't think for a first timer. Too bad my cake settled overnight and it's slightly lopsided icon_sad.gif

Oh my gosh - you did an outstanding job for your first fondant cake. I am so impressed. I love the top tier decorations - I bet this was a big hit and your daughter was so pleased. Keep posting more of your pictures now that you are a "PRO"! thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

Trina,

I think you did a great job. I have to do a stacked/tiered cake the 28th and I am so nervous about the cake not being level. What kind of dowels did you use? I am kicking myself now for not buying some disposable dowels yesterday with my 40% coupon. I am wondering if the disposable dowels would give me more even support than wooden dowels? I also bought a level, but like you said, things happen overnight.

For those of you who use the disposable dowels, how hard are they to cut and what do you cut them with?

My husband has some clippers we bought at Sears that clips tree limbs and that is what we use.

Wow, I'm way impressed! That's your first one? I've never done a cake with fondant before, I've always been a little intimidated by the whole idea.

Good job!!
