I have a question about using 2 different icings on one cake . The Wilton class buttercream is so sweet I am thinking about trying SMB and use the class buttercream just for the decorating is this what a lot of cake decorators do ?

I've used both buttercream and royal before...I like to use royal to make my roses. Bump!

That's funny you asked that question, because that's exactly what I did this weekend. I made a frosting similar to the Baker's Buttercream and I had some leftover class buttercream that had already been colored in the fridge. I frosted the cake with the really good stuff. (IMHO) and used the class buttercream for my decorations. It turned out fine.
