Ever just have one of those days? I should be getting ready to go to my second class in the Wilton course 1, but I'm not. I'm not going to get to go tonight. icon_sad.gif If it could go wrong, it has gone wrong in our house today!

I was looking at the book, it doesn't look like lesson two is that complicated at all. If I review the book I think I'll be fine. So do you all thing that I will be ok to go back again next week or will I be lost?

Make some practice icing and use your practice board and you will be fine. I would say that since the NEXT week is clown week I'd call the instructor and be prepared to do either clown cupcakes OR a cake with clowns on it!

WOW! Glad you reminded me...I have to TEACH Class 2 on Tuesday night. I need to get some practice icing together!

Go!!!!!!!! You won't be that behind. Beside more than likely they'll review the things they did the week before.

That happened to me in course 2 I missed a day and still went the following week and was keep up. But, then again I have a GREAT Instructor!

But, in my opinion you'll be fine. icon_biggrin.gif

Call your instructor, and maybe she can meet you before class next week and get you caught up with the rest of the class.

Or just practice your star and zig zag. The template are in the back of your course 1 book and they go in your plastic practice board.

Then practice the rose center. Make your center look like a Hershey's Kiss. The bottom of your center should touch the words Wilton and Korea on your metal flower nail.

And you should be fine for the next class which you'll need to prepare for. You're making the clown, etc.,.

and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, AND PRACTICE SOME MORE.

You should definitely go and ask your instructor if you can take the class in another month or whenever is offer again (free of charge), just the one that you missed. I know my instructor did that with someone in my class. Hope that makes sense.

You will be fine going back next week. I would contact the instructor to make sure she hasn't added anything to the list for next week, but you do have a list in the book for what to bring.

Lesson 2 is stars, zigzag, writing and dots. You can always try them out this week and if you have problems go a little bit early and ask your instructor to show you before class or during decorating time. Do try the rose base as well.

I always let me students come in the next month to make up the lesson they missed, or I try to catch them up before or after class if there is time. The key is comunication with the instructor.

Thanks everyone. I will go back next week.

I was so frustrated when I typed my post earlier. Things have calmed down a bit now. Too bad I didn't get to go to my class though.

I'll call my instructor before my next class to see what I need to bring other than what is in the book. I will go ahead and practice on the cake I had for tonight.

On a side note, I am going to buy a new mixer. My mixer is not going to be able to handle icing, lol. Now just have to pick which one to buy. Decisions....decisions, lol!

RE: New mixer: Think Course 2....ROYAL ICING.....Course 3.......FONDANT (you might want to start making your own). HEAVY DUTY MIXER! Another thread today mentioned one at J.C. Penney's by Cooks. It's a 700 watt for $150.00.

My cake buddy Val burned up 2 hand mixers in Course 2!
