I have a 50th wedding anniversary cake comming up and I'd like to be able to make the cake look like the origional wedding cake made in 1956. The cake has extensive string work on the edges of each plate. I'd like to do this, however, I can't find any plates that do not have the scaloped edges. Does anyone know how to make the plates with a smooth edge? The cake uses the push piller method. Any suggestions?

I have been looking for the same thing. I am so surprised that Wilton does not carry them. What I did was that, I cut heavy cardboard in squares, drew the scallop design around them and than cut it and wrapped the cardboard in Aluminum foil, you can even use the floral color foil paper. They have pretty ones in the florist shop. I don't know if I help any, but that's an idea. Good luck and please post pics when you finished.

Lilie, I am going to try to cut and paste and then send you the instructions. Look in about 45 mins to an hour. Alternativly, do you have a fax machine? These are in a book called Spectacular Cakes by Mich Turner. It is a great book with some newer ideas.
