I want to make my niece an apartment-warming cake . .. . . . I don't want to make a "house" because, obviously, she hasn't bought a house. I was thinking of something with a "nest" as in. . . ."she's left the nest" but I'm afraid her boyfriend's mom might think I mean "love nest" and be offended. (am I over-thinking????). I DID see a really cute nest cake in the gallery. Any other ideas or should I just go with the nest? Thanks SO much!!

You never know what people might think!

If you are in doubt...maybe you could do something simple with flowers.

I can't think of anything else.

nest could be funny if you had a mommy bird giving the boot to a baby bird w/ a caption like

go build your own nest!

(although I'd probably use: Geh mit Gott, aber Geh! --- meaning "Go with God, but GO!!!!!)

Put a few kitchen items on it to decorate, like a whisk and spatula? It would be cute, and she can use them after the party.

Thats cute!

What about maybe a couch with a person relaxing on it? Maybe the cake could say "welcome home".
