I just made banana bread for tomarrow and it seems it didn't rise as much as I suspected. I have one that is egg shaped and I thought maybe I could cut the others into squares and decorate with colored butter? Just an idea. Anyone know if you can add food color to butter? Is it safe? And if it is how should I decorate?
My banana bread recipe is very dense and does not rise very much. I guess it depends on what recipe you used.
You can color butter and decorate with it, but unless you are just going to just make some roses or a border of some type, I think it would be butter over-kill to frost the whole thing in butter.
To color your butter let it sit out until it is room temperature. Add powdered food coloring until desired color is reached. Whip until smooth and incorporated, being careful not to over-whip. Pipe or make flowers. Refrigerate until firm. You may need to refrigerate in between whipping and forming depending on your temperature. It needs to be kept solid and somewhat firm throughout the whole process.
Hope that helps.
How is the texture ? is it very tough and rubbery ? if it is soft regardless that it's "flat", then that should be ok. Just put some frosting or icing on top to dress it up a little bit. ![]()
Thanks guys,
I ended up just tossing it out. After cutting into it I discovered it was like eating banana mush. To much banana. I will try again sometime. Thanks for the tip on coloring and decorating with butter. I just thought it would be neat I think I will try it next time! Thanks again!
