I just finished this cake for my family's Easter dinner tomorrow. Of the cakes I've done, this is definitely not my favorite. As you can see from my picture, I am definitely FLOWER CHALLENGED! icon_redface.gif I took Wilton class 1 & 2. We were taught how to make a few basic flowers, but never really went into how to place the flowers on the cake to make them look natural and like they belong, rather than looking like they were just plopped on there! Can any one give me some help? Any suggestions and instructions are appreciated. Do you know of any sites on the web that give good instructions and examples of good flower placement? I appreciate any coaching you have for me! Thanks
LL

Personally I don't see anything wrong with your cake it is so sweet and simple. But that is the way I like to do cakes. Sorry I can't help maybe someone else can.

If you have some left over you might want to put some on the side of the cake or on the bottom border.

This cake is darling! Look at the excellent job you did on frosting. If you just randomly place several of those flowers and leaves (get creative - you can put them on the sides and also on your grass borders), it will have less white space. You can also put the names of those who will be at your Easter table on the cake for a fun flair. Good luck. You are definitely going in the right direction and have a joy filled Easter.

When I saw your cake on the home page, my immediate thought was that a very experienced decorator had made it. It is lovely. The rabbit is adorable and is able to stand out because you haven't overwhelmed it with other decos. I wouldn't change a thing on it. Just trust your instincts and do what you like.

I think it is fine! Nice and simple, not too cluttered!

I like it. It is simple and clearly designed. I am flower challenged as well. But I think you made a perfect Easter cake.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I definitely agree that the writing needs to be bigger. I cut the letters out of fondant, (Unfortuantely I'm writing challenged too! lol). Because this is a cake that is for a family event, I should have taken the opportunity to practice my writing. (Duh!!) But guess it's too late now for that. I don't have anything coming up in the next month that I will need a cake for, so I might just take this time to play around with writing and practice flowers. I really need to get more experience with both, but usually avoid them when making a cake! Have a great Easter!

It's a very nice cake. Simple. If you wanted to make it more than what you did, I'd put more flowers around the bunny and enlarged you writing. It look great the way it is though!!!! thumbs_up.gif
