Hey everyone! I was wondering if there's anyone here who owns a Nissan Quest? I've wanted one ever since they came out...love it! But DH thinks we need a Suburban icon_rolleyes.gif I'm not opposed to a Suburban...just think the Quest is a little more hip/cool...LOL...plus, I really like the doors on both sides that open wide/slide back; the fact that it's not really high off the ground makes it easier for the kids to get in and out of on their own, too. I really love the sunroof's or windows in the roof too...keeps it from being so dark in the back of the van...which comes in handy when you have to do the obligatory, once a week 'sippy cup search'!! LOL icon_razz.gificon_rolleyes.gif

We have 3 little ones...and hope to be blessed with at least one more, eventually...lol. DH thinks we can fit more ppl in the Suburban...but I say no - just as many can fit in the Quest! lol To anyone who has a Quest...what's your gas mileage like? I keep telling DH that it's got to be the same or less than the Suburban. The brochures I've gotten from the dealerships give the gas mileage, etc....but I want to know what they REALLY get...in town mileage, especially - since that's what I drive most...from someone who has one and knows first hand. And I'd love to know anything else you've discovered about it that's great or not-so-great, too! Thanks for any info!! icon_smile.gif

We had a Suburban and it was an absolute piece of junk. It was in the shop SO many times I lost count! For big repairs too not minor ones. We drive a lot in town and we would get about 12 miles to the gallon! We got eaten up in gas and repairs. We got rid of it and bought a minivan. That was the best thing we ever did. We have 4 kids and fit with no problems. I know other people love their suburbans but we loved the room but hated everything else.

Funny you should bring this one up! We've been looking at getting either an SUV or a mini-van. My boyfriend is a mechanic and his bro-in-law is a mechanic in a transmission shop so we've narrowed the field quite a bit based on how often they get vehicles in for major overhauls (transmissions, engines locked up, etc.). My boyfriend wanted an SUV until the first time he drove a mini-van...hehe...then he decided it wasn't so bad. We definitely want one with dual sliding doors...looking for a Nissan Quest, Pontiac Montana, or Honda Odyssey...I think those are the only 3. Anyways, two of my sister's have Honda Odyssey's and my bro has a Ford Windstar (we've been told they have a lot of tranny problems) and they all get decent gas mileage--around 22-26 they say. I recommend the Nissan Quest in your situation though! So convenient! Has your husband driven one? Maybe that would help sway his opinion...hehe! Good luck!

Okay...this is just my two cents...

We had an SUV and sold it to buy a Toyota Sienna (minivan) when I was pregnant with #4 last summer. I am SO GLAD we did. I resisted getting a minivan for years...but I am telling you...I am thankful every day I drive that car. I LOVE IT.

It is easier to get into.

It gets better mileage.

It is more comfortable.

It drives more like a car...it is easier for me to drive.

The power doors ROCK. Very easy to drop kids off at school/karate/soccer...

Easy to get baby/toddlers in and out of.

I just love my van...did I mention that? The automakers have really started gearing the vans towards women...there are purse hooks, gorcery hooks, extra storage everywhere. Separate heating/cooling for front and rear, that you can control up front.

The Quest is cool...love the sunroofs on them! Be sure to check out consumer reports first...I don't think they got a high rating last year. Every time I have ignored consumer reports ratings on cars I have regretted it...

I have owned neither a Suburban nor a mini-van but I do own a Nissan Pathfinder. I drive about 120 miles a day, 5 days a week so as you can imgaine the miles really add up FAST! I LOVE my Pathfinder though!! I've had it for 6 years in May and I plan on keeping it until it's dead, at which time, I seriously think I'll cry! I have mini-anxiety attacks when my husband talks about trading it in. It's at almost 200,000 miles and it's still in fantastic condition. To look at it, you'd have no idea it had so many miles. I'm looking for a small car that would be better on gas (the only bad thing about the Pathfinder) and I am really hoping to get another Nissan. They go forever and ever. My parents got a Ford Explorer a month before I got my Pathfinder and they traded theirs in at 89,000 miles because it needed a lot of work. I've had to put some $ into my Nissan too but it's super-dependable. If you're looking for dependabilty and think you'll be keeping this vehicle for a long time, I highly recommend Nissan. Good luck to you! thumbs_up.gif

I love the look of the Quest. We have a 2002 Mazda MPV. It has been a dream. Not one problem. It has 102,000 miles on it. My step son lives in WV and we, in IN so we rack lots of highway miles! Only have done routine maintance and tires. Wheres some wood to knock on? icon_lol.gif It has done pretty well in snow too. I wish they made a 4 wheel drive mini van. I think vovo makes a 4 wheel drive wagon, but the van is so nice for big familys and road trips. My DH drives the van everyday, bless his heart, because I drive a convertiable mini cooper icon_biggrin.gif but he doesn't mind. He says it drives great and it's like his rollling apartment icon_confused.gif He's not very tidy thumbsdown.gif it collects many of his work papers.
SUV's, I don't think there's one out there I like the looks of. Quest van is more stylish in opinion.

Personally we have the gmc yuckon. We Love it. Three kids and also have the third row seat so still room to take their friends. Part of the reason that I love the suv is because it has 4-wheel drive which you need where we live. Some -'s the gas. It does obviously use alot of gas but we think that it is worth it for the room and luxary that it has. Good luck with you decision!

JennT--I don't know if you can get them in the US yet or not, but VW makes an awesome mini-van/SUV hybrid. They are great on gas mileage and have tons of extras. You should check them out if they are available! When we have a family, I'm definitely getting one--or a Mercedes bio diesel combi (I think they are still way too expensive in the US though--but not sure, haven't checked the US prices lately).

I would definitely check out Consumer Reports, too!
