Okay, I know this may sound extremely simple and silly, but I would like to know you y'all remove the dowels from a stacked/tiered cake before serving? Do you use a tool or just kind of dig into the cake with your fingers? I'm making my first stacked cake this weekend (nervous!) for my son's birthday party and am using dowels. I'd like to know the correct/proper way to remove them before serving. Thanks so much! icon_smile.gif

I usually just wash my hands and grab them with my finger tips. They are usually just sitting at the surface. You could use a tweezer if they are deeper.

If I am working on the cake and I need to remove one for some reason, I use needle nose tweezers. If I am cutting a cake, I just make the cut butt up to a dowel (exposing one whole side of it once the slice is removed) then knock it out. Super easy and doesn't look all crazy to the guests icon_smile.gif
