I just bought some Flo-Coat because it says you can add it to your candy and then just use regular Americolors to tint your candy.
I tried today and the candy turned the kind of pink I wanted, only with tiny little spots....like the color never really mixed in perfectly. I used the Flo-Coat too. It didn't matter this time because of how I used the candy, but someday I might want a solid color without tiny little dots.
Is there anything I could have done differently? I used white candy discs.
mix the flo coat in with the melted candy real well and then add the color. that is how i do it and haven't had any troubles.

That's what I did too.
How much flo coat? The candy wasn't lumpy...but the color didn't mix in nice and smooth, I could see teeny tiny dots of darker color.
These are the instructions for using Flo-coat:
The usage ratio is 5 parts of Flo-Coat to 1 part of Soft Gel Paste.
To color compound coating: melt 1 lb. compound coating, add 1 ½ tablespoons Flo-Coat then 1 teaspoon Soft Gel Paste onto the Flo-Coat, mix thoroughly. The Flo-Coat will smoothly and evenly disperse the Soft Gel Paste into the coating, resulting in a smooth and pourable consistency. As you proceed with your work and find that your coating is beginning to set up, add more Flo-Coat to keep it liquefied. Flo-Coat will not harm your coating regardless of the quantity used to maintain your desired consistency.
