I did this very simple cake for my daughter's teacher for Easter.

I tried a new buttercream recipe that calls for only 1/4 cup of Crisco per 3 cups of confectioner's sugar. Although I like that taste, it got a bit dry and crusty for me.

I added some non edible animals and basket and also jelly beans. I filled the basket with jelly beans as well.

It is a scratch cake recipe soaked in simple syrup and pineapple filling.

Pretty cake! Can you share the recipe for the pineapple filling?

The cake looks great. Also...your icing came out really smooth on the sides. Did you smooth it with a paper towel??
