Not looking for pats on the back or anything, but I just posted a birthday cake w/ pink roses in the center and a pink ribbon around the base. Does it look like it needs anything. This is only a backup cake. The real birthday cake will be 3 tier, I am not doing it, someone else is, and I have no clue what it will look like. This is a 16" 2 layer cake...should (hope) serve 100 people. They had asked for 2 12x18 sheet cakes, but when I asked them about this instead, they said I could do what I wanted to do. This is for my ex-husband's grandmother's 85 birthday. She actually expects there to be 85 pink and white roses at her party...real ones! Anyway, off the subject. Should I put an icing border around the base of the ribbon, swiss dots on the side, or just walk away and consider this job done. Sorry to drag on, but feel like I am a little under the microscope on this one since it is for my ex-husband's family. My former father-in-law actually asked me to do it. Any help?!? ideas? Thanks in advance

i think swiss dots would be okay. It is really pretty. Your icing is so smooth.

It all really depends on what style you are going for. The way it is right now, to me, is simple and elegant. I like a bit more on my cakes so I would add swiss dots on mine but not a border around the bottom, the ribbon is enough.

Its pretty but a little plain. Maybe a border going around the top, i would do roses just like the middle is done, i'm no expert tho just a beginner, i dont even know what swiss dots are yet. Just my opinion.

ok i looked at it again, i take back the roses around idea. might be too much. maybe just a simple border on top would make it look more finished.

I think it's beautiful the way it is: simply elegant and your roses are perfect.
