Need Help - Dry Cake!

My oven is on the fritz and the cake is too dry now. I think the temperature goes up and down while it is baking. YES, I KNOW I HAVE TO GET IT LOOKED AT BUT I need to get this cake decorated today!! Any suggestions????

freeze your cake it adds moister

Wet it with simple syrup.

What size is it?

Basic recipe is:

2 cups of water
1 cup of granulated sugar
1 tablespoon of vanilla

Boil water. Add sugar. Stir until it dissolves. Let it boil for another at medium high heat for about 10 minutes. Turn off heat and let it get lukewarm or cold. Then add the vanilla.

Brush or spray on the cake. Press down gently with your finger to see how moist it is getting. When you are satisfied, then stop soaking it.

Wait 5 minutes and then fill and ice your cake.

I just did this last night on a cake that I (whoops) kind of forgot about in the oven after getting distracted icon_rolleyes.gif I haven't tried the cake yet, but I'm hoping it turned out well...I've heard many good things icon_smile.gif

I'm telling you from experience, I just put simple syrup on one of my cakes and that stuff is great thumbs_up.gif !!

It makes the biggest difference in cakes! I just wish I could remember to put it on my cakes everytime...lol icon_lol.gifusaribbon.gif

I use simple syrup on all of my cakes. I'll make the basic syrup and then add flavor if my cake calls for it. I use organic chocolate flavoring for a really nice chocolate taste.
