I need some help!!! I moved from the UK to Canada nearly a year ago, and am finding that there are certain cakes that are available, that I hadn't even heard of whilst in the UK!

The one that's puzzling me at the moment are Bride and grooms cake. I've been looking at wedding contracts and it seems that it mentions wedding cakes, plus the bride's cake, and the groom's cake!

Are the bride's and grooms cake separate cakes for the wedding, with the main wedding cake as well? Or are they something entirely different?!?!?

Any help/advice is appreciated!!!

Hi there!

The bride's cake is the big, main cake.

The groom's cake is something separate. It is a much smaller cake. Sometimes it is a chocolate cake with chocolate icing or sometimes it has a theme that represents the groom. Do a search in the gallery for "groom's cake" and you will see a wide variety.

Hope this helps.

I've not heard of a brides cake. A grooms cake is a smaller cake apart from the wedding cake. In the old days it wasn't really for eating. Single women would take a piece, wrap it and put it under their pillow then that evening they would dream of the man they would marry!

Maybe some one else could help with the brides cake.

PS: under the gallery tab there is a section just for grooms cakes.

Brides cake is usually for the majority of the wedding...normally celebrating both the bride and groom. But then there's the groom's cake, a smaller cake (if used at all) celebrating the groom....like a hobby, favorite team, etc. But yes, it's 2 different cakes for 1 event.

I learned also that, at least here, a few people consider the "groom's cake" to be a cake according to his interests that is served at the rehearsal dinner rather than the wedding. The first time I got an order like that it took me awhile to figure out what she was talking about!

Thanks for all your replies!

Just to make sure I've got it right - the bride's cake is like the main wedding cake, and the groom's cake is a smaller cake (on the side) which tends to be a chocolate cake?

Yes and often the grooms cake is decorated as to his interests as well, and sometimes in 3D.
