I am making my first stacked cake. It is for my daughter's first birthday!!! Anyway, I want to decorate it with pink and green and I bought the fondant daisy cutouts. Anyway, here are my questions:
1. Should I do the cake in buttercream and decorate with fondant or should I do it all in fondant?
2. I bought stemmed daisies to put on the top, can I just cut the stems and stick them in???
3. Should the base color of the cake be pink, green, or white??
Thanks so much!!

I did a stacked caked for my dd 1st birthday (in my photos). I did it in pink bc with royal icing flowers, some attached to wires then just stuck in the top. Also, are you doing a smash cake??? I did. They are cute. If you did it all in fondant do you think she would have a hard time eating it???? Just a thought.

i think i would ice in bc and do fondant accents. i would make it either very pale green or white, with pink flowers. if you do white, then i would use green borders, if you do pale green i would do white/pink borders.

Not sure how new you are to fondant, but you may want to give it a taste before putting it on your cake. IMO some fondants do not taste good at all...especially the wilton brand!

I agree that it totally depends on the taste and look you are shooting for. I tend to like the taste of buttercream the best, but I love the smooth perfection of fondant. I think the Wilton fondant tastes awful, and you and your guests will most likely be peeling off your artwork, and throwing it away. I kinda of think thats a waste. Pettinice fondant is a great tasting premade brand, and the marshmallow fondant is great if you are looking to make your own (super cheap to make). If you are experienced with fondant, I say go for the gusto and make a stunning cake. Green and pink are a great color combo!
