Oh Zmama,
There is NO excuse for bad manners - none, none, none, none, none! Your future looks very bleak with that kind of inlaw family!!!! I suggest you move at least 5 or 6 states away!

Then bake your pretty cakes for people that appreciate gifts. Try the local police department, fire department, hospital, post office, nursing home, or school.

My heart hurts for you!!!!!!

LOL@ tiptop ~

I would LOVE to move that far away! and will asap. We live 5 minutes from them. I just moved up here to be with my fiance. He isn't too happy about the whole situation. Also, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your signature! As an artist, it's really appreciated that others care about art.

Everyone ~
I love the idea of baking for others! Since I just moved here, I haven't met very many people, and this might be a good way to do it. Plus, I used to volunteer, so I know how much it is appreciated! Thanks for the good advice. I really do enjoy doing it, and that would be a way to improve my skills. Thanks for all the support. This really is a great place!

I feel for you! Some members of my DH's family are like that. Just downright rude, etc.

Just remember, that you're with him, not them and you love him not them.

If he truly feels the same was as you, then move away if you can. Otherwise, just try to be the better person and smile and nod, LOL.

But, I wouldn't ever ever make any cakes for them ever again!

BTW, did they even pay you for these cakes?

1) No, they just don't get it. We live in an age where people think ia cake is just something squeezed out by a grocery store bakery. No one realizes how much time and effort it takes to make cakes like ours.

2)Some people think it's 'so cute" when their spawn misbehave because they'd much rather believe "kids will be kids" and everyone should adore their little cretins than to admit that they're lousy parents.

It would be a long time before I baked for those people again. If they want a cake, let them go to a grocery store.

I must tell you that I have some members of my family that are not too suportive of the way my cakes taste to them. But I am please they way they taste. People outside my family circle are very supportive, like you guys for example. The people I donate my cakes to just love my cakes. Now those people that criticize my cakes wish I make them cakes. THEY SIMPLE WOULD HAVE TO WAIT FOR A LONG WHILE. icon_lol.gif

Don't stop baking ever, it's your art, from now on if you must go to one of their socials ( icon_mad.gif ) just buy them one those lousy frozen cardboard cake from the supermarket. thumbs_up.gif
Keep up baking.
Tina

I am so sorry this happened to you!!! That was very disrespectful for such a kind gesture.

I agree...don't make anymore cakes for them.

Don't stop baking...you do a great job on your cakes! icon_smile.gif

Why do you want to make cakes for them?

You indicated "Besides our family of four, there is no one I know here to make cakes for."

There are a lot of strangers, shop keepers with whom you probably do business... even the mailman would enjoy a cake as a thank you.

Perhaps this is a glimpse of days yet to come. We choose our roads. Is this a road you want to travel? Are these people with whom you would like to make that journey?
