I have a customer that has two boys that have birthdays very close. She said one loves Blues Clues and the other loves Star Wars. She wants to have their party the same day instead of having two and so she asked if I could do the cakes. I opened my big mouth and said "wouldn't it be funny to have both things on one cake?"...mostly as a joke. Well now she thinks that would be great if we could come up with a cool design for it. I'm at a loss...how on earth could the two be made into one cake? I suppose splitting a cake down the middle and doing two completely different designs would work...any other ideas? Thanks.

(I have about 2 weeks before the party.)

That's hard! The only things I can think of are...doing 2 different cakes, splitting a sheet cake down the middle to make 2 sides, and doing a 2 tier cake- one tier per theme. I can't really think of anything else! Maybe cupcakes?

I could not imagine intermixing those two themes on one cake. That really is going to be a tough one. I would probably do as you suggested with one theme on one side and one theme on the other side but then I am not the most creative person in the world. There are a lot of creative people on this site. I am sure one of them will give you a great idea. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I think it would be funny if Blue had a light saber and was fighting darth vader or something. Hilarious.

Blue holding a light saber and Darth Vader with a notebook and green crayon in hand!! LOL Too funny!! Or Blue with the light saber wearing a black cape & Vader wearing a two-tone green striped shirt holding the notebook with or without the green crayon...LOL. icon_lol.gificon_razz.gif You could make them fondant figures on the top of a sheet cake or round cake....maybe even have Blue's house there (fondant) and then make a little Death Star out of fondant and put it on the roof of the house!! LOL icon_lol.gif This has the potential to be a hilarious cake!! Please keep us up to date on what you decide to do! icon_biggrin.gif

I'm getting the best laughs off this site today. DD is in the living room watching Blue right now, too! icon_lol.gif
How about Darth Vader with a huge pawprint on top of his helmet. Or have DV sitting in a "thinking chair" with Blue nearby in a jedi robe... oh, this could get so twisted... icon_twisted.gif I say, have fun with it if mom thinks it's funny. icon_biggrin.gif

DV battling Blue, using crayons as light sabers.

Blue in a DV helmet with lightsaber

DV in the thinking chair

Ya know, Steve/Joe always have to go to thie thinking chair. It reminds me of going to timeout to think about what they did LOL

You have to post your finished product when you are done! My husband is a huge Star Wars fan and my one year old loves Blue. Their birthday is on the same day.....I might have to steal one of these ideas!

Thank you for all the great (and funny) ideas. I'll have to see what she thinks of all these ideas. You're all right though, could be really funny if I do it right (and that's what she wants). I'll be sure to post whatever I come up with. Thanks again!

Ok, I'm getting nervous. I have to finish this cake tonight to deliver it in the morning and I'm still not getting a good picture of what I want in my head. I only charged her $30 (for a 9x13 with 2 layers), so i don't want to (can't) spend all my time and money on this. She didn't want me to split the cake and do two separate themes. I think she wants Darth to be holding his light saber and the handy dandy notebook and Blue to be holding a light saber. She didn't give me any ideas for color. The only thing she did say (when she saw my Easter cake) is that now she thinks she wants it all fondant! I'm only charging $30...come on...you can't have anything you want for $30. And the figures...am I supposed to make them or go buy some?? icon_cry.gif Anyway, I'm FREAKING out, which I don't normally do, but I'm totally drawing a blank and I need help from you wonderful people.

what about a pale blue buttercream cake and dark blue dog footprints around the side and in the middle either some plastic figures of blue and darth or hand modelled fondant ones.. but that would be a lot of detail to model! You could model just a light sabre out of fondant ( just roll a grey sausage and mark lines in it and then model a blue or red sausage and stick against the grey)and have it in the middle of a circle of pawprints?
Just remember you want it good but worth your time for the money!
