I need to bake 2 mini stand up bears and 2 7x2" round cakes, but I only have one pan of each. I was wondering how long after I bake the first cakes that I can reuse them. I'm sure I'll have to wash it in between before reusing it.

Also, how long can cake batter be refrigerated? Would it be alright to bake in each pan in the morning and then bake the rest later the night, or is that too long to wait?

I don't know about the batter issue.

But when i bake a cake and need the pan immediately.

I wash the pan and rinse it in cold water, dry it, prepare it and use it again. I have never had any problems with it.

I let the cakes cool for about 15 mins then remove them from the pan. I wash the pans and reuse right afterwards.

You can mix up batter and save it for latter but add a bit of baking soda to it so it will still rise up nicely for you. It really is better to mix up and use right away though.

If you are using box mix it will be fine a few hours in the fridge. I cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap.

I let the pan cool down to the temp of my screaming hot dishwater (lol) and then wash and dry. Then you're good to go!

You can use the pans again as soon as they are totally cooled (be sure to wait 10 mins before turning your cakes out or they may stick). Of course, you are going to have to wash the pans in between, but that also will assure your pans are totally cool. As for the batter, you really cant refridgerate it and let it sit for long. Its best to use it right after mixing it. If it sits out for awhile before going into the pans, you lose all the air you beat into it in the mixing process.

I will often tip the cake out as soon as it comes out of the oven, wash the pan, and immediately re-fill and bake again. I don't think I would do it with a shaped pan, however, until the cake had cooled. I also will keep batter refrigerated until I'm ready to use it, though I don't think I wait for more than a couple of hours. So much of it will depend on the cake batter you are using.

Did someone imply you had to wait a certain time period or something?

No, I just wasn't sure how long to wait in between baking because I only have one of each pan and I need to use them twice.

A concern I have is with the mini stand up bear pan. The package says for it to cool in the pan completely. So I'm just curious how long to wait before I can use that pan.

And if I should add baking soda to the recipe (I'll be using the cake mix extender recipe), how much should I use?

Bump.

I still need to know if it's ok to use the mini bear stand up pan right away after I let both sides of the bear cool inside of the pan.

I'm sorry, but I'm still unclear on your question. Once you remove the cake from the pan (any pan), wash the pan, run it under cold water to make sure it's cool, dry it and bake the next one. THere is no waiting period between bakings. I can't understand why you think you have to wait before baking again in the pan. icon_confused.gif

If I remember correctly you let the bears cool completely so you get the facial features and to help prevent the bear from breaking but once that's done just like indy said, wash, dry and go!

Here are the instructions for cooling the mini bear stand up pan:

"Remove from oven and cool on wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove clips and gently lift off top half of mold. Let cool 5 minutes and remove back half. Place cake back into top half of mold to cool completely."

So what I've been trying to find out is do I absolutely have to cool the cake in the pan completely, or will I be ok to rewash it and reuse it after removing the back half and letting it cool 5 minutes? I hope that's more clear.

Because that pesky little bear can break easily I would let it cool completely in the pan before removing it. Probably around 1 1/2 hour. thumbs_up.gif
