Okay, so I just did startip #16 outline work on my cake for the anchor, bigger than I usually do. I usually do a transfer but not this time, but that's besides the point!!!! Never have I ever icon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gif had such a hard time using a star tip. I am using the Deca Cake premade black in a tube. Well I squeezed it in a bag and put my own tip on it and icon_mad.gificon_evil.gificon_mad.gif I just want to hurl it out the freaking window icon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif I have no problems using a round tube tip on it but the star tip! I don't know why icon_confused.gificon_cool.gificon_twisted.gif I thought it would be easy as well! HA icon_evil.gificon_evil.gificon_evil.gif

Aaannnnddddd to top it off my 16 month old is screaming in his crib. He's been down for a nap (yeah right!) for the last hour and a half and has not fallen asleep yet. So all I hear through the monitor is his screaming and my screaming in my head over this black icing!! AAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif I think he's teething, finally getting that third tooth down on the bottom but man that's not helping my headache any. Oh and that's another thing. I don't get headaches all that often but today, oooooohhhhhh does it hurt.

I just want to dissappear for a little while. You know, just go "POOF" and vanish. I need to go and get a Starbucks blackberry green tea frap (new and very good btw) and just chill. Of course if I do that I need to get the kids in the car and take them with me....... icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

HELP MEEEEE!!!!!!! icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif I'm having a break down!

Thanks ya'll for reading my ranting and what not!

do you ever think -"They're napping, i could just go by myself, what could happen?" i have 4 to load up when i need to run somewhere, so that thought has crossed my mind more than once, but then, i figure i'll be on the news as the mom who left her kids alone and the house caught on fire. ha ha

Take a deep breath.....turn the monitor down.....he's safe in his crib, so you are good! Is it a new tip or do you think it's the icing? Sometimes I have problems with star tips b/c one of the prongs is not bent correctly.

Best thing to do.....leave it alone for a few minutes and come back!

Oh yeah I have definately thought about just going the five minutes down the road to the Starbucks drive-thru but I can just see it now.....the black bar over my face on the news as the careless mother who abandoned her children for a little self indulgence from Starbucks!!!

It's definately the icing. It's so thick! I actually made sure the star tip was good to go. I stuck my little Pampered Chef knife in between and make sure they were separated.

David has finally cried himself to sleep and I walked away from the cake. I'm almost done but I think I just need to sit some more and take a breather with my 3 year old. He likes to play with mommy's hair and so maybe that will help to get rid of my headache!!!

Thanks girls!!!!!!! It's good to know I'm not alone!!!!! icon_rolleyes.gificon_redface.gif

I find that premade tube icing nearly impossible to pipe with! Even Wilton! So I think it's the icing and not you! Hope you're having a better day! icon_smile.gif

Yes, thank you! I did have a better day. I forged through and finished the cake and promptly left the house AND the cake! My boys and I went to Grandma's house! So that was a nice break! I just took pictures and am getting ready to post. I could have done a better job I think freehanding the writing now that I see how I did the "poke through" method! Live and learn you know! I'll still have to try the gel transfer for the writing. Sounds like that would work so much better!

I've been there with the black icing in a tube before...verrrryyyy frustrating! Never again! lol Glad you got the cake done! icon_wink.gif

I have 3 little ones myself and can totally understand what you mean about the *POOF*/Vanish thing... icon_lol.gif Whoever wrote the slogan "Calgon...take me away!" MUST have been a MOM!!! LOL icon_razz.gificon_lol.gificon_rolleyes.gif

When I have one of those days where no one wants to take their naps, but yet they're screaming and crying because they're tired icon_confused.gif I just go ahead and load 'em up in the car and drive to Starbucks...LOL. Usually, by the time I'm there, all of them (or at least the one crying the most..lol) are asleep. I go to the drive-thru and get my treat...drive back home and park under one of the trees, roll down the windows and just let whoever's asleep finish out their nap in the car...LOL. I spend that time sitting on the porch, drinking my coffee and refreshing myself by either browsing through a magazine or just sitting there doing nothing...trying my best not to even think! icon_razz.gif (I'm not a bad mommy, I promise...I only let them nap in the car because we live out in the country and I can pull my car right up near the porch, if need be...20 ft between car and porch and I can see them at all times...LOL. Sometimes you've just gotta do whatever you can to keep your sanity and clear your head!! icon_rolleyes.gificon_razz.gif )

I hope your evening was much more enjoyable than your afternoon. icon_smile.gif I had a bit of a crazy day today, myself....we're putting on a small addition right now, so everything is a mess...LOL...not fun when you have a 6 yr old who thinks he can use any tool his Daddy and Grandpa can...a 3 1/2 yr old who is just amazed by everything and wants to play with everyone & everything...and a 19 month old who wants to put everything she can reach into her mouth! icon_razz.gif I have no idea how we didn't end up in the emergency room today..LOL...or how I got 4 1/2 dozen cookies baked and decorated and packaged all nice & cute yesterday! AAAGGGHHHH! icon_rolleyes.gif Now...if I can just make it through tomorrow! icon_eek.gificon_rolleyes.gif

I really dislike the tube icing too.. But I have a hard time getting my black icing dark enough... so if i'm just using a little I still use the tubes.. I almost want to pitch out a window... but at least it looks better than the color I would have came up with..

Oh holy crap!!!!! icon_surprised.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif I forgot all about the show but you know what, I think I'll go to the show and check everything out. To be honest, I havent' even had the time to do anything. As is, this retirement cake came up on Monday and the retirement is tomorrow, Friday!!! What days are the show again, 28-29th? I really want to attend but I'll have to take the boys with me UGH!!!!!

Thank you for the nice comment on my bridge work. My hubby encouraged me to give it a try after we saw some cakes with it on them at the OK Sugar Arts Show Wedding Cake Competition on Food Network! I just tried it on my own. Doing it for that cake was my first time! Three tiers worth of the stuff and that still didn't get me an award! FOOEY!!!!! I had a blast doing it though. It boosted my ego just a wee bit!!! icon_rolleyes.gificon_wink.gif

Me day finished up great. My boys have been in bed since 8 and what have I been doing since that time.......spending it here on CC! Man am I addicted!!!! icon_biggrin.gificon_razz.gif

Thank you to all of you who understand what it is like to be a SAHM or even a working mom with curtain climbers and rug rats running around!

Oh yeah!!! JennT~ I completely understand what you mean! If our Starbucks didn't have a drive-thru I would litterally go nuts!!! They are my little piece of salvation about once a week!!!
