i know this has been asked before, but i am terrible at doing the searches. how far in advance can you decorate a cake and it still be fresh? i have 2 cakes due on saturday, one due for easter sunday, plus i am going to be very busy saturday with church stuff in the evening. anyway, could i do one of the cakes thursday night and it still taste fresh for saturday? also, i'm doing some mini eggs with poured fondant, will that keep it fresh for a couple days. any input would be great

Cakes will stay fresh for at least 4 days with forsting. You shouldn't have any problem decorating on Thursday for a Saturday delivery. Be sure to box it, and don't heat up your house too much!

as long as there are no perishable fillings or milk in your icing you should be more than ok.......I did a cake that I decorated on a tuesday night to be picked up on wednesday and they didn't eat it until SATURDAY!!!! They said it was the most delicious cake they had ever had and they never refrigerated it the whole time (it was waaaaaay to big to go in a fridge)

thanks for the input- i know i shouldn't be so paranoid, my family will eat cake for a week, and it's still good for about 4 days AFTER it's cut, but i would hate to send out something stale.
