Hi Yall!
I am so bummed out. I just finnished my Wilton 3 course on Tuesday nite and I have been taking pictures of my cakes on one of those instant camera things, and wouldn't you just know it, only a couple of the practice ones I did at valentime's even shows up!! My finale cake, which I was so proud of, only shows the outline. I know it's silly, but I feel like I did all that work for nothing as I have nothing to show... I was so looking forward to posting my cakes on here. Oh well, it's not as if I won't be making other cakes, and I found my good camera, so hi-ho, hi-ho, it's back to baking I go!!! Thanks for listening to me whine!!! icon_cry.gif Linda

What a bummer! Many of my first cake photos were sad also. I learned a few tricks from a pro AND got a better camera.

Try using a tri-fold display board (used for 4-H projects, etc.) as a back drop. This helps your cakes stand out and the background (usually a messed up kitchen) from being seen.

Good luck with cakes and photos.

Michele

Thanks Sugarflower. I have to admit i wasn't careful in taking the pictures and after all, it gives me the excuse to make lots of practice cakes!!! I got my shutterbug son on the case now, he'll help me get it right too!!! Besides, after reading about little baby Sophia, this seems small indeed!! Thanks again, i appreciate you and CC!!! Linda

well if it makes you feel any better. I learned a lesson the very hard way. I had taken pictures of all my cakes, on my digital camera. Stored them in my computer and a virus hit. I lost EVERYTHING, there were about 30 pics of cakes. And you guess it, I did not back them up on a disk! Now I have to rebuild my portfolio...

Funny, you just wrote that, as I was just thinking that's exactly what I need to do today. Baked all these things last night and tried to take pics on my dining room table with a drape over a very tall vase, and it was still hard trying not to get anything else in the picture.. Seen someone, maybe you? in the gallery using them.. great idea.. thumbs_up.gif

If it makes you feel any better, I never got to even take any pics of my cakes from my class. When I got home from class I put the cake box (with 2 cake in it) on the counter in my kitchen. My, at the time, just turned 2 year old pulled the entire box and both cakes onto the kitchen floor. I was so upset I cried. It was a Wilton in a weekend class, so I had piped ALL day and my hand hurt and I was looking forward to at least eating some of it. Oh well. HE ate some of it! icon_lol.gif
