Need Help With Choco Buttercream
Decorating By tomsmom245 Updated 12 Apr 2007 , 10:19pm by tomsmom245
Can someone please tell me how to turn some of my already made Wilton Class buttercream into choco buttercream (just need some to color black).
I had to use this recipe as the kids I am making the cake for are allergic to soy, eggs, nuts and dairy.
I know I should add cocoa powder but I don't know the proportions and I don't want to make more of this not so yummy icing...as I don't want leftovers!!!
TIA
Ashlee
I'm not sure what cocoa powder you're using, but most are manufactured where they could have been in contact with nuts. You maybe safest by getting your white icing black. It may be a little more work, but if you're dealing with so many allergies, it may not be wise to put in any chocolate.
JMO.
Hershey's cocoa powder is on the approved ingredient list.
The wilton website recipe for chocolate buttercream calls for 3/4 cup cocoa or three one oz. unsweetened chocolate squares. Here's a link to their recipe. If you're converting less that a full recipe, you may have to eyeball it.
