i'm making a cofffee flavored cake and thinking of pairing it with wc bc. What does anyone think? also, i have two rec ipes, the one on this site and one in the cake mix doctor that calls for cream cheese. has anyone used these and do they crust? i need to be able to ice it smooth (and i'm not good at using a hot knife, i use a paper towel) i've never tried either so any input would be great. thanks

Sounds like it would be good. My personal preference would be to add some almond, coconut, or other nutty extract...just an idea.

add the extract to the cake itself or to the icing?

Sorry, to the icing.

I made a coffee flavored cake recently...didn't ice it with WC...just used a strong vanillla. It came out like a latte, which was what I wanted. I mixed a large quantity of cinnamon into the buttercream I put in the middle, since my daughter and I always dose our lattes with heavy shakes from the cinnamon shaker. It was delicious. I would think it would be even more delicious with WC icing.
