I want to attempt the spaghetti & meatball cake and was wondering. I want to use the banana cake for the base, has anyone used a cream cheese icing for the noodles. If so which recipe did you suggest.

I never have, but if I had to guess, it seems like cream cheese icing wouldn't hold up very well for noodles. I can imagine it 'melting' back into itself maybe. I hear a lot of people use fondant pushed through a play-doh thingy. Maybe yellow cream cheese icing, and then fondant noodles just on the top so it looks noodley?

Here is the recipe I use for cream cheese frosting.

6 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 tsp vanilla
4 1/2 to 4 3/4 cup powdered sugar

Cream the cream cheese and butter, add vanilla and mix until blended. Add powder sugar one cup at a time mixing well.

I think this would hold up well I have piped with it and it does great holding its shape. I think the color is good too just add a touch of yellow. Also you can add a tsp or so of meringue powder if you want to stabilize it further.
