I have a 50th Anniversary cake soon. It needs to be 2 tiers. The customer asked for a white cake with pink roses but would also like a little gold incorporated into it.

I can not visualize this. I have looked and looked through the gallery as well as many cake books and other internet sites and am still clueless.

I am posting this hoping that someone has either done a cake with these colors or knows of such a cake. All help and ideas will be greatly appreciated.

For just a hint of gold, you could make some gold leaves (or use the gold foil ones). Here's a pic of one of my cakes using the gold foil. If you can envision the red roses as pink ones.....

Envisioning is one of my downfalls thumbsdown.gificon_lol.gif . Yours is very pretty. I like the package design with gold ribbon. Also, I enjoyed looking at your website yesterday while reading through the "website" thread.

I was just thinking as I was pouring my coffee this morning that some gold ribbon around the bottoms of the layers might do the trick. She has a Precious Moments figurine to put on top. It has a touch of gold in it.

Also, I thought I could do a monogram and paint it with my new luster dust icon_biggrin.gif . (I can hardly wait to play with that stuff icon_biggrin.gif ).

Any other ideas or photos?

How about using some gold wire "twizzles" between the roses? I'm pretty sure you could find them in the floral section at a craft store.

I'd also be careful what shade of pink you use. With the gold, a pale understated pink would be best - kind of like CC's background colors. Put a little (teeny teeny) bit of orange in the pink and make it fairly pale. I got a gorgeous shade once by mixing a bit of violet in once too. My point is don't use hot pink or bubblegum or baby pink. Go for a dusty rose color.

Another option for adding in the gold is gold dragees (if you can find them) and even some gold luster dust.

A pink and gold cake could be very elegant. I have a wonderful picture in my mind. Too bad you're not nosing around my head. LOL icon_lol.gif

Thanks gals! Okay, I believe dragees are the little beads, right? But I'm not sure what twizzles are icon_redface.gif .

I found a pic of a cake done by Sweetgurl. I might could do a similar version (like I could ever make it that beautiful) but I love that cake.

colette peters has a pink and gold cake that she did for her parents 50th anniversary, and it takes my breath away. i'm considering recreating it for my parents anniversary. it's in the book that has the "present" cake on front in golds and silvers. maybe you can use it for inspiration or ideas.

Well, it's done. It's not near like the one Sweetgurl did. I was pressured for time so I went with a much simpler design. The customer was very pleased and I got another order from a lady who was there when I delivered the cake icon_biggrin.gif . Here's a link to it:
