Has anyone ever taped a cake to make straight lines? I've seen it on a T.V. Show, but they never show you the whole story. They use blue painter's tape and then airbrush the cake? Want to try this technique but I'm afraid my fondant will rip off when I try to remove the tape.

Thanks icon_biggrin.gif

the blue tape is a special low tac tape -- has about the same sticking power as a standard post-it-note. comes off most things easily (sometimes TOO easily)

there's also a scotch tape version --- comes in a BLUE box and has a BLUE central core. -- it is even less sticky.

I saw a similar technique in a magazine .... two-toned icing on the top of the cake with a perfectly straight line. They iced the whole top, then laid wax paper over half of it, then iced the uncovered half with the 2nd color. Remove the wax paper and a perfectly straight 2-toned top! I'm betting you could do something similar on the sides.
