For those of you that make figures for your cakes (you know sculpted animals, people, etc) Do you use straight fondant, or a mix? Do people eat them?

I use straight fondant when I make figures. It gets a little crusted but it is still very edible. The kids tend to eat it more and the adults set it aside. Having said that however, I know some adults who like eating it too.
Keep what you do not use well wrapped until you have molded it.
Good luck Claire

I use straight fondant also. The only time I use a mix is when the order is palced as a arush order and needs to be done faster than normal drying time. Then, I use a gumpaste/fondant mix just to speed drying time
