I was asked to do 2-12x18 sheet cakes as backup for a birthday party...could I get the same amount of services from a 2 layer 16 inch round cake? Either way, how many servings am I looking at for the 12x18 sheet cake? I know what the 2 layer will produce--100 servings. Feel like I can be more creative with the rounds vs. the sheet. Any advice?

I always figure a 12x 18 as 36 to 54 servings.. 54 ONLY if I use the my cake marker that markes the lines for them to cut on if not 48 is the max

I do not decorate the back up sheet cakes just frost and a border they are back up so only the main cake is decorated and I usually do rounds for that.

Well, the kicker is, someone else is doing the 3 tier cake, and they as me to do the sheet cakes. I look at this an opportunity to show off my work, so I was thinking of doing a 2 layer 16 round instead of the sheet cakes. Not trying to show up the other lady, but might get some business from it. Is this wrong? For my ex-husband's grandmother at that!!! My ex-father-in-law called and asked me to do the job. No feel like I have even more to prove.
