After a soft launch in February, I finally launched The Cookie-Bottom Cake Studio web site! Yayyyy!! I have to fix the link to my cookies and special treats but please, check it out and give me honest feedback. I have already gotten a call for a children's party cake and a fall wedding! Woohoo!

Great site! I really like the idea of "by appt only", so you're not baking a ton of stuff each day, just what you/the customer need. The website is very professional and made me REALLY hungry! I want to bake some cookies now, thanks a lot!!!!
Great job, and best of luck!!

I think it looks great too! I wonder too if some people would be nervous about the download windows that pop up. My non tech savy friends think that any window like that are automatically to be considered computer viruses. It is silly I know, but some people get weirded out by it. Overall though your site is really easy to navigate and is super cute! ![]()
I couldn't surf on it very well, I don't know if is my Internet conecction or my pc. But I loved what I saw. Great colors. And very fresh ideas. Congrats!
I just have one question: Do you have anything baked to show people or use just pictures? Well two questions: Do you offer a taste sample on their appoinment? 10q.
I absolutely love how you have the slide show incorporated into your site. It flowed so smoothly in my browser. I know how hard it is designing your own site so a lot of credit is due! Great job! (great cakes too
). Hey, can you ship some of that sushi down south LOL....looks good!
Hi. First post in the forums. I like your site, but if i may put forward a few comments:
In order to perform better within search engines ( if this is where you plan to get you traffic) you should really consider adding some text links to inward pages. Search engines love it
The meta description and keyword tags are far to direct, try tagetting lesser used but more tagettable keywords.
Consider changing the title of each page to something unique to that page, without repeating.
Links from other sites related to cakes and cookies will all help. Just make sure they are good sites too. Maybe alt tags on pics?
The contact page has a plain email link ( beware you will get untold amounts of spam by using such links ) maybe a contact form? If you need help, please feel free to ask.
All in all, the design is clean, easy to navigate and nice.. well done. ![]()
You guys - Thanks so, so much for all the advice and feedback. Can someone who experienced a download request please give me details? What program/file is it asking to download? I'm not sure that should be happening.
For the slideshow, I actually do have it on the fastest setting slide.com offers, but I agree with the idea of having thumbnails - just haven't done it yet. I've been on an update roll - maybe tomorrow!
Keep it coming, this is all really helpful for me.
Hey!! Looks like a great start!!
I run Firefox (as does many people) and it didn't work that great.
I couldn't look around without hitting the back button. The site 'jammed" up quite a bit.
The slide show took a long time to run, and watch it is easier if you can "click" and scan instead of being forced to watch a video.
As well, quite a bit of the text was over lapping.
Sorry about all the stuff to fix, but I'm giving honest opinions! And you want EVERYONE to best view your site!
Great start! I can't wait to see it updated! ![]()
I think the website is great! I can't believe you did that on your own!
My comment: I like the slideshow. Maybe it would be better if the picture weren't zooming in. It seemed like they were going out of focus and that was bugging my eyes. I think thumbnails might be better.
Sounds like a great studio!! ![]()
When I click on a link sometimes for instance "the Cookis-adorned cake" on the kids and teens page it comes up with a window that says "do you want to open or download this file? etc. " Also it asks to open or download your microsoft file with your price/serving list.
Sorry for the delay. Yes, I did use Yahoo! Site Builder (for Ironbaker).
As for the downloads, this is news to me. I'm not sure how to fix it. This is not happening on the HP I use to maintain the site, or my hubby's Toshiba laptop, or the new Dell at my mom's. I made sure to access the site from all three before launching.
Hmmm. Anyone have suggestions?
