It is hi-ratio shortening. (there are LOTS of threads about hi ratio if you do a search) Sweetex is a brand name. From a quick online search I think it is manufactured by ACH Food Co (www.achfood.com).

I would think that you could use it in any recipe that calls for shortening but I haven't tried it in anything other than BC.

I use my hi-ratio (I use Alpine) for anything that call for shortening--but that ain't much. icon_wink.gif When I make pie crusts, I use it and it really helps making it light and flaky.
