We're having an old-fashioned country fair at our Church on April 22nd and they are asking people to bring things that they do for hobbies. They mentioned quilting and needlepoint, however I think my cakes are just as much a craft as those. I'm going to sign up to bring one, the question I have is there is a good possibility (I'll know next Sunday) that the entire thing is going to be outside in the hot Arizona sun - what kind of cake and frosting could I do that can stand-up to that?

Does fondant stand up to that kind of torture? I want the cake to look good because I can use this as an opportunity to gain some possible customers.

Wow! That's a hard one knowing that being outside there in Phoenix of all places. I'm thinking fondant probably would be your best shot for that major heat. Can't make any promises though. Too bad royal icing dries too stinkin' hard. LOL
