I have bc frosting sitting in a covered tupperware bowl on my counter. It's been there for 1week and 1/2 I knew I'd be using it again so I didn't refridgerate it. It's 1/2salted butter and 1/2crisco. Is it still safe to use??? I'm only using it as a crumb coat under fondant. When I opened the bowl, it did have some settling in it. (looked like OIL? maybe from the butter) I tasted it and it tastes ok, but just wanted another opinion. THank you all soo much icon_biggrin.gif

I would say yes if you didn't put any milk in it..........I leave butter out for weeks at a time on my counter in my butter dish and I've never had an issue with it spoiling. The butter probably started to melt a little (hence the oil)...I would say it's ok.

I say it's ok as no milk in it-I know one of my instructors always made up batches and kept them out for quick calls, etc. As long as it's been covered and not in heat I say go for it!
