Is anyone else having a dry spell? I haven't had any cake orders in a while. I want to decorate cakes so bad that I volunteered to make Easter cupcakes for the kids at church on Easter Sunday.

Has anyone else gone through this before? If so what do you do to relieve yourself. I was thinking of baking some practice cakes and just take them to work to let my co-workers eat them up. I really don't want to do that either b/c my co-workers are spoiled, they expect a free cake from me every once in a while.

Well, look at it this way Agent, it's going to be graduation soon and that's always a big time for cakes. Just relax and realize that this is the calm before the storm, as it were, And before you know it you will be turning peeps away, because you haven't the time to make them a cake.

It'll get busy for you. Keep your chin up and like chaptlps said it's the calm before the storm!!! I get orders week by week. So you never know what tomorrow will bring.
As for making cakes for your co-workers, don't think of it as spoiling them, think of it as mere practice for you and who knows how many orders you'll get for the next cake you bring into work!! Good Luck! :0)

I use my dry spell time to make up decorations for storage.

Don't worry, before you know it, you'll be like a busy bee again. icon_wink.gif

I also use the dry spell to make roses for storage and stuff like that. I also practice on dummy cakes. But don't make any plans, becuase it really is week by week!!! Enjoy the "time off"! grin.

btw, your cakes are adorable!!

It seems like it's feast or famine in this business sometimes..lol. When I first started doing cakes I would send a cake in with my husband on a semi regular basis.....it was well worth it because I ended up getting orders from his coworker and eventually the the company. I took cakes just about everywhere I went....to the kid's office staff, to the doctor's office etc. It paid off....I have cake orders every week.

Cheers,
Shirley

ahhh yes, I had one of these for about 2 weeks and I was pouting up a storm and wondering what I had done wrong, and this week I had to turn down orders! It's just a thang! You know how it goes, everyone wants everything at once. Take your free time to do some practicing or make something yummy for the family. icon_biggrin.gif
