Decorating By acookieobsession Updated 11 Apr 2007 , 3:09am by acookieobsession
I need would like to use fondant on a cake that has no eggs. i know MMF and Gumpaste are out...BUT what about Wilton fondant?
I can't use royal or color flow either. Other suggestions are VERY WELCOME!!!
If you have the box for wilton fondant and can look for me I really appreciate it. I looked on wilton but can not find the ingredients listed anywhere.
Thanks,
Julia
This is just my personal opinion, but I would just skip fondant if it means resorting to Wilton's Fondant. It tastes nasty, so it will just get picked off and whoever eats it will now conclude that all fondant is icky and will never try it again - even if it is a better tasting one.
There was just a post that said that taste is #1 importance, then decoration... so, if it were me, I would make buttercream so it tastes good front and foremost.
Of course, that's just my opinion.

It's got sugar, glocuse syrup, hydrogenated veg oil (palm and rape seed) water, glycerine, tapioca starch, gum tragacanth, (emulsifier) carboxymethyl cellulose (thickening agent) Artificial flavor (vanillin) sodium acetate, (preservative) acetic acid (perservative)
or you could make MMF. That has no eggs!
Marshmallows are made with egg whites though, aren't they?!
opps! Didn't think of that! so sorry
Just looked it up on the net - some brands do use egg whites, some don't, so yes, MMF would be an option if made with an egg free brand of marshmallows
!
What about SophieBelle's Jello Fondant? Here's a link to the recipe http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-3413-SophieBelles-Jello-Fondant.html

Oh thanks you guys!
So Wilton does not have eggs.
And that Jello fondant sounds cool!
AND DUH!!!! I forgot totally about rolled butter cream!
And also, I had left out MMF b/c I knew about the eggs in that. Thanks though!
I think I better make a list so I remember. Thanks for your help.
In your debt,
Julia
