Hi Everyone,

I will be making my first tiered cake/castle cake in a few weeks. I bought some Wilton Separator Plates that I wanted to use. I am going to place the 8" on a cake board and then my base and use the 6" separator plate for the 6" cake. The separtor has little 'feet' so that it would sink into the cake below.

Will that be enough support? Should I dowel under the 8" cake as well before placing the 6" on top.

This castle cake is for my friend's daughter so I definitely don't want a disaster on my hands.

TIA

As everyone more experienced has told me here time and time again-when in doubt, DOWEL! icon_biggrin.gif

Yes, I dowel anything stacked, you can use drinking straws. Or you could just use the Wilton push-in pillars.

Sorry - I'm on 3 hours sleep - yeah, I guess the push-ins aren't the best idea for a stacked cake, huh? Straws all the way then.
