Hello everyone!!! I have been reading the posts for a few week and looking at all the photos and they are AWESOME thumbs_up.gif

I am getting ready to make the Hamburger Cake in the morning.
Does anyone have any pointers???
I don't have much time, so the first one has to be a success. icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks in advance for any advice!!!

The one I did, should be in my photos, I shaved my cake for the top and piled the scraps on top to get more of a bun shape. also, instead of "icing" a middle layer, bake a chocolate cake for the meat and then coat it with red piping gel. This one really does go quick.

bumping makes your post go back up onto the homepage so you can get more people to look at it and hopefully answer it for you icon_smile.gif

To get a perfect bun color mix a little bit of chocolate and white frosting together and add a drop or two of yellow coloring...it comes out just perfect for the bun color!!!! icon_biggrin.gif

I read about the coolest idea in cake decorating....I have to find the site, but, basically, they used real meat loaf, shaped it into a cake and used mashed potatoes as the "frosting", topped with a couple of cherry tomatoes....and then.....made a cake that looked like a hamburger for dessert.....

That will confuse anyone!!! It was for an April fool's day prank...

I've not done this yet but my thought are that you could use a big pyrex bowl. Tort it into three pieces. The bottom of the bowl that is rounded would be the top bun. The middle would be the meat and the last piece would be the bottom.
Hope this helps.

when I made mine I used a 9" pan and made one yellow cake and one brownie cake
then I used a pirex casserole dish and made a cake in it. Thats was the bun top. Its perfect.
I also made a peanutbutter flavor icing. I filles inbetween each layer with icing colored like ketchup mustard. Then made a little cheese and tomato and lettuce too.
It was a big hit

I so want to try one of these. I should make that prank dinner one night for my boys and see how they like it. They will probably want to eat the "real food"(hamburger) first. They would try to be pretty convincing I'm sure since they have to eat "real food" before they can have desert. icon_wink.gif
