I know this has been asked before but I am too lazy tol ook it up!

Who uses the printer and edible inks to make pictures for cakes? What kind of printer? What kind/brand of inks? What software is used...Photoshop?

Is this type of 'decoration' popular? Just wondering because I have noticed that judges don't really care for this kind of thing.....but I guess what the customer wants is important 'cause they are the ones paying for the cake icon_biggrin.gif

What are the pros/cons? I am consideirng buying a printer and inks and other accessories, so your feedback will be grealty appreciated!!

I use a Canon i350, buy my supplies from Kopykake and use Photofiltre.

I think edible imaging is becoming more and more popular among decorators and the people they make cakes for but as far as judges...they're there to judge the work. One consideration a judge makes is the difficulty of a certain technique and while there is some work involved in producing a nice image and making it work with the cake, one of the blessings of edible imaging is the time it saves a decorator.

If I were just getting started with edible imaging right now, I'd buy a new Canon iP3000 from a reputable seller on eBay. I'd use Kopykake supplies and since I only do this as a hobby, I'd still use Photofiltre.
