I have a cake order coming up for the realtors here locally and the order is for doing a tribute to the local firemen and police officers. There will be a cake going to each of the stations here. I like the idea of the helmet and the tutorial was great. I was wondering how many people each one of these helmets fed? Each station has approximately 25 men. Also, how many pounds of fondant did it take to make one of these?

I used two 8" stacked rounds and carved down the sides. I think you could use 9" or 10" and get the same results. I can't recall how much fondant I used - I have a 5# bucket of black Satin Ice - but I would guess two pounds? There must be a chart somewhere on this site for amount of fondant needed - then add a little to the number for the brim/shield.
