Help! Shoe Cake

I want to do a shoe cake for my wife. How do I do this? what do you use for the sole of the shoe etc..

Thank you so much for the step by step instructions. Only one question. What is gumpaste glue?

In class we did 1/4 teaspoon gumpaste, broke into tiny pieces and then 1 Tablespoon water. Mix them together until the gumpaste is totally dissolved. Let sit atleast one hour. Then paint it on the area as you need it for glue. It dries pretty quickly. You can keep it in the refrigerator for up to one week. You're wife will love it!

I just made a shoe themed cake the other day and used a 3D mold to make a chocolate shoe. I figured that way she could eat it icon_smile.gif And chocolate is pretty fun to work with. See my avatar.
