Ok, here it goes. Last thursday my son fractured his pinky. We iced it, it didn't hurt so we didn't go crazy for the doctor we figured we'd wait overnight to see what happened. Friday I look at his finger and it's HUGE and all different colors. icon_cry.gif Not good, but he was still not in any major pain so he went to school and I went to work to call the doctor. Doctor says bring him in just in case. K-still np. Go see the doc and she poking and prodding and asks "does this hurt, does this hurt...no, no, no." Then she moved his finger and he's like "yup that hurts" Ok, she's thinking fracture still np we're sent for x-rays. Yes it's fractured only hairlined but still in need of a splint. Now it's 1 & 1/2 hrs later and were at the x-ray place we have to go BACK to the doctor's office for the splint. Still NP, well we get there and the the secretary comes out with an excuse for him to be out of gym and says were all set. UM HELLO!!!! what about the splint. OH! she's like hold on, 5min later she comes back and said that the doctor said to buddy tape it like I have been. That's when I felt the need to tell her that I did not tape his finger the SCHOOL nurse did. OH! Well Hold on. (by this point I'm boiling icon_mad.gif ) The nurse comes out and proceeds to tell me that they don't have the proper tape to buddy tape his fingers so I need to go to wal-mart and get the proper tape to do it, but for now she'd kindly tape it with (what looked to me like packing tape) cause that's all she could find. Whatever just get me out of here!!!
(almost done)...
1 week later, tape is not holding up, I called the doctor to tell them I'm bringing him in again and they WILL splint his fingers PERIOD!!!!! Well she's like you need to go to walmart and buy the splint there as their stuff is better than ours!!! WRONG this to say to me!! Hello MCFLY!! YOU are a peditrician's office how can you not have the proper equipment?????? UGHHHH!! I saw red, I hung up on her and then called back and told the receptionist that I'll be in tomorrow to pick up my son's records!!! HOW RUDE!!! icon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gif Needless to say I called the school nurse who informed me she knows all about this doc's office and said she'd splint the finger for me and told me how to take care of it. So Now I need to make her a thank-you cake as she's just AWESOME.

K-done thanks for reading I appreciate it. Whew! I think I'd better have a drink or something.. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I just have to say good for you for standing up for yourself & your son. There is no reason to be treated like that by anyone, especially someone you're supposed to trust. I hope he feels better too.

I forgot to mention, I've been going to this doctor's office for 31yrs. My mother has been taking me there since I was an infant. So NO I will NOT be treated that way. But wasn't that awesome of the school nurse???! :0) I defiently need to think of a cool cake idea to thank her!!!

Thank you all for your wonderful support..Update I brought the nurse the cake and it was like I had given her a million dollars icon_biggrin.gificon_smile.gif She took it to all of the teachers and even had one of them take a picture for her. I explained to her that even though she knows she does a good job, she sometimes needs to told from an outsider. thumbs_up.gif She was very happy..

Also, My son is doing just great!!! However, the following week he was in baseball practice and got smacked in the mouth w/the ball. He had a whopper fat lip. POOR KID. But he's better now. UGH!!!! I swear I'm gonna be grey! Good thing I dye my hair.. I mean good thing I'm young..

Have a Good day everyone..
