Okay, I want to do a practice cake in the 11X15 pan. I want to use the extender recipe as well. How many cake mixes and how many times do I do the extender recipe to make this sized cake?? Help please! I want to try it tonight!!!! Thanks!

I use 2 mixes and 1 extender. Perfect every time.

Does that make it high enough to torte and fill or do you need to bake that combination twice and fill in between?

Thanks.

If you use baking strips, that should get it to rise to top edge of pan. I don't normally torte single layer cakes so someone else should answer that...Sorry.

I don't have the baking strips yet. Should I wait to make this cake? I am going to get them on Wednesday. I heard about using the flower nail will this help?

If I make the cake without the strips, will it not be done evenly?????

If you don't have baking strips you can cut strips from an old bath towel, wet them really well and pin around the sides of the pans with straight pins. Also if you plan on doing a 2 layer cake and filling (as opposed to one layer and torting) consider using one mix plus extender, it will give you the equivalent of 1.5 mixes, which is a good size for one layer. Good luck!
