I have a baby shower cake to do for Sunday. She said it could be anywhere from 20-30 even though only 12 have RSVPd as of today.

I was planning on a 2 tiered cake. Bottom layer is 2-10 inch, top layer is 2-6 inch, both filled.

Do you think that will be enough? I'm thinking of slicing the bottom in thirds, and then slicing the thirds into 6 pieces each. I don't know! I quoted her $40 when she said it would be 20 people and I've already baked the cakes. GRRRR...

I assume you're talking about round layers?

If that is the case here are the servings:

6" round feeds 12

10" round feeds 38

So a round two tier/2 layer cake would feed 40.

The 2 layer 10 in will easily serve 20 ppl.

Wilton wedding sizes, 4x2x1 slices, would serve 50. These are small serving sizes. You could make a small square cake as a back-up; frosted only, no decorations. See what the RSVP number is on Friday morning; tell her you'll go with that number.

Why am I so nervous about this? Yes, they are rounds. How do you think I should cut it? Wedding cake style where they cut from the outside and move in? Or slice in thirds and then cut those in pieces?

Thanks ya'll. I always stress way too much and then it always works out...
