I am making monogrammed wedding cake cookies for this weekend. ... I've done these before, but does anyone know of a good website w/fonts so I can get ideas for the lettering... I usually do it by trial and error, but have found if I can get something to copy it usually comes out nicer.
I use the monotype corsiva font on my Word program. If you look in my pix, the monogrammed cake was done with this font. I printed it out to the size I needed, put wax paper over it and colorflowed it, then gilded with lustre dust and confectioners glaze. I found that particular font to be the easiest to work with. Hope that helps some! ![]()
By the way, welcome to CC!! Always nice to see a new face around here!! ![]()

Do you mean that you mix , whatever you use to gild , with confectioners glaze? I've never used that glaze. Is it easy to find and buy?
What I do is go to the cake store and in the candy section you can find a liquid used in candy making called "Confectioners Glaze". I mix just a few drops of that with gold lustre dust and paint on with a sable paintbrush onto the dried colorflowed monogram. I like it better than lemon extract because it doesn't evaporate so darned quickly and doesn't leave a splochy, powdery residue.
After the painting dries you can touch the monogram and not have the color come off in your hands.
www.dafont.com is a great free font place!
I'd reccommend this site because I've never had a problem downloading fonts, and I've never gotten a virus or trojan or anything funky from there, either.
