Has anyone compared brands of sleeved fillings? How does the taste compare? Is there a particular brand that tastes superior? I have some raspberry and lemon but they aren't marked with a particular brand. Just a lower case 'h' and some #s. These arent what i was looking for in a filling so i am thinking of finding some way to jazz these up but wondering if a different brand would solve the problem.
thanks for the help,
kim

The lower case "h" brand is "henry's" ...that is what use all the time. Sometimes, I will mix them with BC icing and use it as a filling that way too.

thanks, i was wondering if they were henry and henrys. when i first got them i tasted them ( i couldn't wait!) and wasnt impressed but now that they have chilled the flavor is much better and i think they will work after all. so far i just have raspberry and lemon but they have lots of flavors so lots of possibilities. i do like the suggestion of adding buttercream for a filling. i am also thinking of adding some lemon zest to the lemon for a little extra punch. is it true these fillings can sit out in a cake and not needing refridgeration?
thanks

I'm not sure what the brand is I use, but I get mine from country kitchens.

I haven't tried them all, but mainly only use the strawberry, cream cheese, bavarian cream, and choco bavarian cream. I'm not a huge of fan of them (the strawberry & choco bav. crm aren't too bad), but my customers like them...so I will still use them when I need a cake that can't have a filling that needs to be in the fridge. I even have a few customers who specifically request the sleeve fillings!!! icon_rolleyes.gif

I haven't added anything to them, but I like that idea!!

i add some bettercream (whipped up first) to the fillings for a mousse that can stay out of the fridge for a while

Adding the zest sounds like a great idea! And you are correct....these fillings do not need to be refrigerated.

They are just different flavored fillings ( strawberry, raspberry etc) that are sold in a plastic sleeve:
