March 30th I was informed that my full time position would be over on April 30th due to a major move and they just don't have any room for me in there new place of work. Though the news made me angry it has really opened up a great opportunity. I have wanted my own shop for many years and have always been scared. Well now is my chance. We have a rental house that is vacant right now and when I spoke with our health dept. they informed me that I would be categorized as a "processor" because I would be located in a residential area and I would need to deliver all my orders. I have a huge kitchen and next month the hd will come out and tell me what I need to do. My hubby is finally behind me on this and this weekend I did 7 cakes for Easter.
I am going to ask my boss since we have so much furniture and things here that he cannot take and is planning on donating to homeless shelters anyway. I am going to ask for 2 desks, computer, filing cabinets and 2 very nice guest chairs and the office microwave and fridge. And a very nice marbled entry table.
I am planning on taking samples to my local banks, insurance companies and etc to get my foot out the door, but I don't know how to do a contract for monthly birthday orders on the corporate offices any suggestions would be great. I make my cakes from scratch and have wonderful recipes. I am planning on have cake testings twice a month and would be the only time that customers would come to my home. I hope that after a year I will be financially able to look into renting a commercial property or maybe even build my own.
You don't know what it means to have your spouse stand behind you on something like this. And I have so many friends that have already said they would send me customers when I get legal.
Thanks all
Sunday from Bama
Thanks everyone for the lovely comments. I cannot wait for this venture to start. For 15 years it's all I've dreamed of.
